Penthouse magazine pushed the envelope of pornography further then Playboy did. It was first to show pubic hair, full frontal nudity, lesbians, and fetish photos. It also had better editorial content that was both more sensational and investigative, leading to the phrase “I only read it for the articles!” The Magazine was also famous for publishing nude photos of famous women after they became famous. They would often bid against Playboy for models to appear in Penthouse first.
