Alora was born in Yamiao Village, a settlement of the Boni Tribe, deep within the frigid tundra of Freljord. From a young age, Alora could see and traverse into the spirit realm, becoming playmates with a group of spiritual beings that others could not see.
Ultimately, Elyse hopes to convey an important message through the character Alora: people with autism often do not easily meet others’ expectations, but this does not mean they are not worthy of understanding and acceptance. Alora’s story and experiences are like a beam of light, illuminating those who do not conform to expectations, letting them know that in this world, they too can have their own place and shine.
Growth and Awareness: Alora was born in Yamiao Village, a settlement of the Boni Tribe deep within the frozen tundra of the Freljord. From a young age, she was different from others, able to see and communicate with small spirits that others could not perceive. In the village, she was seen as an outcast, and even her parents did not understand her, believing her “friends” to be products of her imagination. However, her great-aunt Haistrel genuinely accepted her and encouraged her to stay true to herself. As Alora grew, she gradually realized that those little beings were real spirits, and that only she could pierce the veil between the mortal realm and the spirit world. This discovery made her aware that the world she lived in was extraordinary, and she began to document and study this intertwined reality.
Alora is a compassionate community designed for neurovariant individuals, those with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD), and caregivers. We recognize that both neurodivergent individuals and their caregivers often feel overlooked and isolated, bearing responsibilities and challenges that are not always fully understood by others. Anchored in the concept of loving-kindness, Alora offers a tranquil environment where spiritual and emotional well-being are nurtured.
