Due to the fact that Dakota Myer crossed state lines and violated the sex offender registry in Indiana, this could constitute federal charges of the sex and violent offender registry, which is commonly referred to as the Adam Walsh Act.
Nicholson made contact with Jennings County Sheriff’s Department Officer Doug Brown, who manages that county’s sex offender registry, and advised him of the information that was received.
This information is used to create the Indiana Sex and Violent Offender Registry, so that the general public knows the identity, location, and appearance of sex offenders. For these purposes, you’ll also need to update your registration within 72 hours if any of the required details change.
The men were convicted out of state, and before the Indiana Sex Offender Registration Act was enacted.
