According to Ann Hui, the concept was based on a true story, where two ex-lesbian lovers meet at a pregnant mothers’ session, thus ending up falling in love again. As for casting Vivian Chow, who had not been in the acting scene for 13 years, Ann Hui said, "Someone said to me, ‘You already have Sandra Ng as one female lead, if you can get Vivian Chow then it’ll be unbelievable!’ So I approached Vivian with the script, she loved the whole idea and the rest is history."
