How did Taito change it when they rebranded it as Jungle Hunt?
The changes I’m aware of are:* Tarzan becomes a pith-helmeted, monacled explorer* A new chiptune ditty replaces the Tarzan yell* Swing vines become swinging ropes* New and equally baffling palette swapsThe new running animation is REALLY bad, underscoring what a rush job this was. There was also a version called Pirate Pete that I haven’t looked at too closely, but every sprite is different, every stage has pirate stuff in its background, and there seem to be some minor gameplay changes too, such as enemy pirates in the last stage that throw daggers at you. All console ports are based on Jungle Hunt, which is why Wikipedia and Mobygames both list this game under that title instead of Jungle King.
Jungle Hunt had to inspire Taito’s much later Rastan. Also,the was a “movie” supposedly called that my old babysitter watched. It mentioned a character named Al Simmons,so it was actually Spawn.
