I agree. For years I did my morning swims swimsuit on. Now for two summers, I’ve done the same naked. Based on those experiences, my opinion is too that swimming naked is the best way to maximize the mental and physical health benefits of wild swimming.
Even though you would do your swimming alone, it may feel weird and uncomfortable at first to be naked outdoors. (I sure felt that I wanted to cover myself with a towel). But do not let it stop you. Natural waters are also often cold. Do not let it stop you either. Slowly but steadily push yourself out of your comfort zone.
You have made the work of historians more than a little easier by researching the topic of boys and men being coerced to swim naked at YMCA pools and for gym class. Those of us boys who were fortunate to attend private schools between the ages of six and eighteen experienced the same situation. We too were ordered to remove all our clothes and line up at the pool’s edge as the swimming instructor lectured us on what to do and not do. It was a decidedly precarious five to ten minutes of verbal instruction, particularly for the preteens and early teens who now and then were unable to contain their excitement over swimming clad in suits or not. Their temporary condition was neither an issue nor a cause for ridicule or concern of any kind. Your insights and thought-provoking comments about this subject are of serious historic value. Before swimming, we were ordered to take off all our clothes. not allowed to even keep a handkerchief in its hands.There was an order for all children between 6 years to 18 years.Everyone was stripped naked and made to stand in a line.And the instruction was a 10 minute lecture related to naked swimming rules and regulations.i was 8 years old.I used to feel very strange seeing the different body physiques and penis sizes of different boys.I had no idea at that time Why is the penis size of elder boys bigger than mine?But my wish was that I should also grow up like them.There were 12 boys in our specific group whose age ranged from 8 years to 12 years.but overall we had boys up to 18 years of age.it was a lot of fun. We had that fun with friends without clothes, which today’s boys can only imagine
